Hi — I'm Emiliano. I build and maintain Calccover, a set of free commercial insurance calculators for small business owners.

Why I built this

I built Calccover because I got tired of filling out broker quote forms just to see a ballpark number.

If you run a small business and you're shopping for commercial insurance, the process is frustrating. You call three brokers, fill out the same information three times, and wait days to get quotes back. Before you even know if you can afford coverage, you've spent hours on the phone.

What most business owners want first is simply a realistic estimate: "Should I budget $800 a year or $8,000?" That's the question Calccover answers in 30 seconds — no signup, no email, no phone number required.

Every calculator is free and always will be. If you want a real quote, each tool connects you with licensed brokers. If you just want a ballpark, the tool gives you that without any strings attached.

Calccover by the numbers

  • 28 free commercial insurance calculators
  • $0 — no signup, no email wall, no credit card
  • 5 primary data sources: III, NAIC, ISO/Verisk, BLS, and state insurance departments
  • 50 states represented in our state rate factors
  • 1–2 weeks — typical time Google takes to index each new calculator
  • 0 user data sold to third parties

How the calculators work

Every calculator uses transparent formulas built from publicly available insurance industry data — published rate tables from ISO/Verisk, industry averages from the Insurance Information Institute, and injury data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. See the How It Works page for the full methodology.

Our estimates are ballpark figures, not quotes. Real pricing depends on your claims history, credit-based insurance score, and the underwriting guidelines of individual carriers — factors we can't see. That's why every calculator ends by offering a connection to a licensed broker.

What I care about

How the site is funded

Calccover runs on Cloudflare Pages (free tier). When you choose to submit the broker form at the end of a calculator, we may earn a referral fee from the broker. That's how the site stays free. The calculators themselves are not affected by any partnership — you see the same estimate regardless.

Transparency

Calccover is operated by one person. It's not a broker, agency, or carrier, and it does not sell insurance. The calculators are estimation tools only — see the Terms for full details.
